Maybe you need something like an EAW KF750? 2x12", 10" mid and compression driver all in a co-axial type arrangement?
Seems to me, what you're doing is a bit odd, cos normally one would use a sub horn (WSX,Punisher etc) to do up to 90Hz then 15"horns to do the kick. You need to find out how high the horns you've got will go. I expect they'll be useable up to 150Hz or so, high enough for a longish straight 12" horn. The only 12" kick-ish horn I know of is the one in the bottom of the F1 Res 4/5 tops and some say this is what runs out of headroom first. They use that from 114-440Hz IIRC. You might have to design something from scratch. |

you might be right! just not sure what the kick will be like from say 150hz<250hz, alough 12" and 6" mid [like martin w8] from say 130hz and crossing to the 6" at around 550hz or so...
maybey just some x-tros would do???

What about something like this for your mids and highs.
![]() ![]() 12" 2x8" 2x1"
Just to give you another possibility to think about.
May be building some more of these later in the year. I should learn to use google sketch up, then I could make plans for the boxes instead of working things out as I go. Edited by super-hero - 07 August 2006 at 9:54pm |

what are the x-over points and drivers? they look nice! id still use 2" comps though... [hopefuly got my hands on a pair of bmd750] and how low would the y cross to the bass?
very interested! id also prefer 2x12" for low mid but thats along the lines of what im thinking...

I have run them above some twin 18"s from 180hz and they sound fine. The crossover points are 800hz and 4khz. |

that sounds nice, take it the 12 is similar in performance as an mt122, and the difference is you cross to another paper cone in between there and the comps, [to keep the vocals on a paper cone at least]
hmm very very interested in that kind of idea.
ive already got the tops sorted [2" and bullets]
but id be well interested in a 2 way 2x12" and 2x8" mid box, id need to cross to the bass bins at 150hz at the heighest i should imagine!
would they work with c12-300mb and s8 38m.

To be honest, I have no idea. I have not yet got into the exact science of cab building, and t/s parameters mean little to me.
If you are going to be using 8" cones you dont have to use the 2" comps as you are crossing over that much higher. Then your 1" comps should eliminate the need for bullets. Well thats my theory anyway.

Any chance of getting the plans for these boxes? Look quite interesting.

The limmer P3 would be a good possibility. http://www.speakerstore.nl/index.php?l=en&pg=11&c=24
But it uses a 15 inch instead, 8 inch and 1 inch.

one of them limmers uses a ciare 6.83mr driver from 600hz<3khz apparently, meight just bop them on top of some 12" horns running 150<
or meight still just go x-tro, [and use some overlap] i am considering them though...
