Oh yeah, just reminded by the X1 thread, do you think that the cab will perform any better on it's side like an X1 or will it perform just as well upright?

probably not much difference. x1 has ports that extent right to the sides of the cab, and therefore when placed on the floor, the floor will act as an extension to the ports, making it play slightly lower and slightly louder.
in the mtl-2 the advantage will not be nearly so clear, as in any orientation 2 of the 4 rear ports will be close to the ground. you might see some improvement on its side as each port next to the ground would be adjacent to a different driver, loading them more symmetrically, but i think you'd be unlikely to be able to hear the difference oh and surely you dont want to cross the mtl-2s to the hd's at 115hz? the mtl's may kick, but little i know kicks quite like an hd15. i would cross them over at more like 70-90hz? |

Yeah, there's not much difference in output on the MTL-2 whether on its on its side or upright when using just 1 per side. A stack of 2 or 3 cabs on their sides certainly moves some air. In general, the MTL-2s are crossed over at 160hz, but in my opinion, this is too high as they dont have massive amounts of kick, so i crossover at around 90hz. HPF at 30hz. |
