What bandwidth and efficiency could one get from hornloading a PAudio SN 10 MB??? I gave up on my first project due to size restrictions. I'm now going for a small 2x10"+2" mid hi cab. Doesn't have to go toooooooo low. 140-150 is fine. Any parameters for hornresponse will be appreciated. Thanks!! PS. Horn design is kinda new for me. I've only built them, not designed them. |

Depending on what you want, I recommend you follow the advice I gave in the Kick ass kick horn thread. The SN-12B is the right speaker for that sorta task and found its way into the Porn Horns of proaudioparts. 10s suitable for such horn-tops generaly have very, very ligh cones and strong motors.
There is a top design which might suit your needs. Have a quick search for Kloma or SRAM on the forum for a good double 10" horntop ;-) The original uses 2 beyma 10s and a BMS co-ax 2" on a Seeburg Acoustic Line Horn. Martin Martin |

My DR250a loaded with an SN10MB goes from 80 to 3.2kHz with average 105dB/watt efficiency; cabinet size is 22x22x20 inches, weight 30 pounds.

Depending on application the DR migth be ok or not. He was looking for
design recommendation with a given bandiwdth, so I gave him a couple of
good leads to follow up on. If intended crossover is supposed to happen
around 150, a design with a faster flare rate will not only load the
driver to a higher frequency, but the slot phase plug in the example on
a straight horn will allow for better integration with a HF horn (in
the specific case a horn 10dB louder than what the DR might require,
rough behringer eq showed problems starting at 600-ish)
DasDas, is this more of a theorhetical question, or do you have a particular application in mind? ML Util is good at providing power response predictions for drivers, but for Mid use one can use it above that properly if you controll directivity to get a good match the the HF system above. Follow the link on the kick horn thread to melhuish's site and read up on some of the JBL literature linked. Martin |
