best wire to use? internal short runs you can get away with thinner but 4mm best
right speakon connector? (4 or 2 pin) depends on your system config, speakon chassis are generally 4 pole anyway but you will prolly only need 2
wiring diagram? see below
solder or crimps? I always solder direct onto speakon chassis
best place to drill hole for wire to go through? keep the wire away from moving parts, make sure you seal the hole with silicone or similar, keep runs as short as poss

Depending on what load you want your amp to see depends on how you wire the cabs. But with just 2x (8 ohm ciares) you are probabily going to run them in parallel. So simply wire all +'s together, all -'s togther basically - checking your amp to see what poles the signals are on, prolly 1+ 1-,  do some reading on the subject before you blow your amp / speakers though...

some good reading under "Series Vs Parallel Wiring" http://www.squatjuice.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=56600

Id use 4 pole speakon sockets, 2 pole sockets only mate with 2 pole plugs (less common), 4 pole sockets will mate with 4 pole plugs and 2 pole plugs.

2.5mm is fine , I use a hot glue gun to seal the hole as it drys quicker than silicone

ok nice one.
iv got 2 4ohm ciares. planning on buildin another 2 aswell. so my guess is its not best idea to run them parralell right?
which means id only need the one speakon input for each cabinet??
havn't bought amps for them yet.

if you wanted to run them in series, to double resistance you'd still need 2 speakons per box to link through. You'd just have to alter your cable setup/chassis pins to suit.

Oh and read up on the back EMF generated by the punishers. Should be posts up in this section. If you run 2x 4 ohms your amp wont actually see 2r or 8r. Nor if you run 2x 8 ohm will it see 4r or 16r.

I found this schematic on a car audio website,
a combination of series/parallel wiring
i thing will do good with a bridged amp

the speakers are 4 ohms and this wiring scheme charges the amp also with 4 ohms

feedback please

so the amp has to be bridged for you to run speakers in series?

i would strongly suggest, regardless of what setup you are going to run, you put 2 4-pole speokon sockets on each cab, wired in parallel, with the driver coming off 1+,1-.

so,

connect the speaker + and - to 1+ and 1- on the first speakon socket.
connect 1+ and 1- on the first speakon socket to 1+ and 1- on the second speakon socket
connect 2+ and 1- on the first speakon socket to 2+ and 2- on the second speakon socket

If you ever sell thecabs, this wiring is easy to get. you can daisychain cabs together. if you want you want a more exotic setup like the pictures above, building it into your hardware is a recipe for sadness, u wil change the setup sooner or later, then you will have weird wiring built into your cabs.
