Just simmed up the 12MB, will take about 400W to reach xmax with a 45Hz HPF, curve looks good, bit louder than the ciare, the 12mb had considerably lower mms (cone and coil mass) so should sound faster, it wont take the power the ciare can though.

Cheers for that! If it's not to much trouble could you put up the graph? Also would a 50-55hz high pass help with power handling and extension above 120hz. As this would be more for live and rock disco purposes 50-55hz should be fine. Thanks again Timebomb.
help!!!!!!!!!!

Dark black line is a punisher with fane 12mb driven with 450W,  grey line is a punisher with ciare 12sw driven with 1000w.  Both single cabs in halfspace, in larger stacks excursion drops abit.

Looks like the fane should take ~500w if you highpass at 50Hz

Edit, the cone on the 12mb is a fairly solid kurt muller cone, not as tuff as the care, its got a high extension for a 12" so its designed to flex a fair bit, i recon it will be ok for rock music, not 100% sure the only way to tell is to give it some welly, proberbly wont take 40Hz dubstep sine tones though.

Cheers Timebomb. It looks as if it's at least worth a look see. If only because it looks to me on the graph that the 12mb will be better at running 120hz+ than the caire, and you don't need a hoofing big amp to run it.

Maybe it's a quarter wave resonance at 120hz (~70cm, incidentally the box height) that causes the unpleasantness people talk about? i.e. not the fault of the driver? No idea to be honest, just speculating...
