Because they were originally designed as a possible install speaker so rather than have potential problems when wall mounting on brackets stuck em on front. Malc, Bleedin small bottles !! Tony Edited by Tony Wilkes - 08 June 2012 at 6:13am |

Finally ready for painting. Also big thumbs up for the 1" horn from Steve_B, if you can live with the conical dispersion they are very good performers. I have now settled on a 1.5K X-over to the comp.

Looks good Tony, i like the slot in grill its a very good way to do a grill IMO, simple and the tension stops any rattle.
I did a 12" + 4544 cab and with some time spent eqing it sounded really good. Looking at Steves plots it looks like it shouldn't need as much eq as my tractrix horns, directivity is more consistent on Steves horns too. |

The plots have been leveled with eq. The aim was to show how the response varies as you move off axis so flat makes it clearer. The actual response will depend on the drive unit used, but as with all constant directivity horns it needs a fair bit of hf boost to counter the natural roll off of the driver.
I have some similar sized tractrix horns I designed about 12 years ago. I'm about to re-do the cabinets they are in so that they can be used as dual purpose main or mons. I'll go with these horns as sonically they sound just as good as the tractrix and the hf doesn't beam as much.
