Ill just drop my few thoughts.
So relatively to sd the ring is wider than dome. Wont it make standing waves appear on lower frequencies than in a dome?

Wish I could compare their not smoothed responses

Whats to elaborate Pasi? Isnt it obviois? Cone goes both ways from the 1.75" point.

Well, yes. But for example in the inside the flat part is suspension, not diaphragm anymore. See the slits on phaseplug. Same on the outside, only until bottom of the V it is a diaphragm, rest is suspension. Hence the area is counted from both sides of the VC until the bottom of the groove. When you combine that into missing piece in the middle, then i think it's pushing it quite a lot to call it as equal to 2.9" dome.

Jack Arnot in the USA is having the exact math at his PC. Ill ask him for it and share if you want. Its not BS info. I rechecked it years ago and it is correct.
