How low can a 1.75" diameter coil compression driver can be safely crossed? Im talking about the RCF N450 and in general of course. Horn loads to 800hz up.

Altec and JBL 1.75" drivers will handle 10W (program) down to 500hz, 30W above 800hz.

(on a proper sized horn)

Some claim they can be used as low as 1.2kHz, others 1.6kHz, however I don't really like the sound of most 1" exit drivers below about 2kHz.

Will also depend on how much power you want to put through the driver.  Power handling tends to increase with crossover frequency on most compression drivers.

The other factor is crossover slope.  If you're running active with a 24dB/oct filter then you can probably push the crossover frequency down lower.

Thank you for the responses. The specs doesn't suggest the lowest possible point so I decided to ask here. I'm planning to use it down to 1.5Khz @ 24db slope.

You'll probably be ok at 1.5kHz with a 24dB/oct filter.
