Im putting on a festival style party at home for my wife this June as it's her 40th. She's been really ill so I want to put on epic party and give her something to look forward to. We've organised a few bands to play and friends plus myself will DJ but its all a bit pointless unless we have a festival tent!
As I've mentioned we'll be holding this at home, my garden is large enough and my neighbours are strangely understanding when it comes to sound. Im aware there's hundreds of companies that will cater for our needs but I don't want to take any chances so if anyone has used a marquee company in they could recommend that would be much appreciated. Size wise id imagine id like something around 15m by 5-8m, carpeted,a dance floor area for the bands and dad dancing. Any other suggestions would be great as to who/where to get festoon lighting, uplighting for the marquee and garden, festival style flags ect. Were located in west London not far from J18 of the M25 and the A40/M40 junction. Any help/ideas would be very much appreciated. Cheers

most marquee companies will stock power distro, festoon, uplighters, etc etc in house - around here local legends are Southwest marquees, only a few hours down the road so might be worth getting a quote from them anyway, imagine companies closer to London will cost more anyway.

As I’ve said I know any company supplying what I need is just a google search away. I’m looking for recommendations, people that you’ve used before and rate highly. Thanks for the input so far, I’ll definitely be getting quotes! Obviously I’m not swimming in cash, so perhaps anyone who can do us a deal on a ‘package ‘ would be much appreciated.

Can't recommend any particular company over any other, but DO NOT LET THEM DO THE POWER DISTRO!
If your lucky, they will use 1.5mm blue arctic in 32a cee-forms. Then some form of cheap home brew distro, which has never been tested, and probably never trips as the the mcb's contacts are welded together. Some of the crap I have seen has been spectacular in its pisspoorness. Let them do the marquee, never seen them screw that up, but do power from a proper power outfit. |

Unfortunately like you I’ve seen some horrendous bodges throughout the years not only from small companies but some of the bigger ones too. However Fortunately for me and all my guests I’ll be dealing with that department and if I’m not everything will be getting tested and visually inspected. Good shout though!

Have a look at http://festivalmarquees.co.uk/ Did my wedding and 40th, Stumblefunk Tent at Beatherder and is doing a very good trade in festival style weddings.... A very good mate that I can solidly recommend, There's a few on here that know him, He's based up north but will travel and has good stock of interesting and pretty stuff.
Just checked his page and it's loading quite slowly but give it a mo.

If you're interested in marquee hire and not sure of the costs Origami Marquees, hire Tipi, Sperry Tents and Stretch Marquees and have an instant quote generator so you can see how much you would expect to pay for an event. Check it out here. https://origamis.co.uk/ - https://origamimarquees.co.uk/ Edited by Origami - 20 October 2022 at 11:01am |
