Just replacing all our old Arctic with nice ho7, is there a “industry standard” colour labelling for different lengths

Resistor code.
1 = Brown 2 = Red 3 = Orange 4 = Yellow 5 = Green 6 = Blue 7 = Purple 8 = Gray 9 = White 10 = Black You can use coloured tape for power cables, coloured straps and such XLR, jack etc. have colored bushings for that purpose : http://www.neutrik.com/en/xlr/xlr-cable-connector-accessories/xxr http://www.neutrik.com/en/xlr/xlr-cable-connector-accessories/bsx Edited by Peter Jan - 26 January 2018 at 5:07pm |

Prolight (I think) sell the coloured tape with lengths printed on it. Easiest way.

Companies around here (including myself) do it as resistor colour code x2.
So Brown = <=2m Red = 4m (or 5m) Orange = 6m Yellow = 8m Green = 10m Blue = 12m Violet = 14/15m Grey = 16m White = 20m It deviates a bit from the colour codes towards the end! 30m = White+Green |

Multiple colours on the same cable are best avoided imho. If you have a lot of freelancers putting a laminated crib sheet in the lids of your cable trucks helps a lot.

I have marked my own cables with:
2m / 20m red 5m / 50m green 10m brown This is based on the international standard electronics colour code, as used for resistors etc, and the fact that a 10x difference in length is obvious. -------- Sadly there seems to be no standard or co-ordination amongst hire companies, everybody just invents their own. For example, RG Jones uses: 5m green 8m grey 10m red 15m yellow 20m blue 30m white |
