Greatings to speakerbuilders!

We are running small reggae soundsystem in Ukraine ( https://www.facebook.com/dub.splash.system.ua - www.facebook.com/dub.splash.soundsystem.ua). So our budget is very limited as well as our audience, although we are the one and only reggae soundsystem in Ukraine.

Questions to experienced users or owners of such enclosures.

At the moment our 4-way system consists of 2 pcs KV2 ES1.0 (12 "+ 6" + 1 ") and 2 kiсkbins - ES18BPH equipped with suitable drivers Mag M1801 ( https://mag-audio.com/transducers/lf-drivers/m1801 - https://mag-audio.com/transducers/lf-drivers/m1801). We use it as mono stack for reggae and dub events indoors 70% and outdoors 30%. The audience is currently 100-200 people.

Disadvantage is that some tracks have a lack of energy in low frequency region so the bass line is inadequate. But some tunes sounds right as it supposed to be.

Now we want to expand the system a little bit. When we began to build the system, we was focused on the expansion of 4 HOG scoops in some distant / near future, but at the moment we understand that we can't afford 4 scoops. And the audience is not so large to rock them with 4 scoops.
However we can add 2 boxes.

So here is the question, which way to choose?

Option 1. To build another 2 pcs of ES 18BPH and increase the sound pressure level of kick region, and also slightly extend the lower frequencies. The advantages of this option are simplicity and low weight. And also it is proven enclosure for us. Dis: there still may be not enough sub bass frequencies.

Option 2. To build 2 pcs of 6-order bandpass X1 enclosure with the same Mag M1801 as a real sub bass and have full range of bass frequencies. The advantages: very simple design although a bit larger and heavier than the ES18BPH. Dis: we haven't deal with this type of enclosure so it can be disappointing experience for us.

I've read some info about X1 on this forum and saw it can play low even in the amount of 1 piece. Sensitivity is also good, if I understand right it is not worse than 2x18" vented sub.

We have some experience of using our system at outdoor festival with two double 18" vented subs in conjunction with our 2 ES18 in stack with well-built phase aligned crossover preset - the result was pretty good and the audience liked that sound.

So can you give an advice?
Amplifiers and crossover are not important.

What is the best option in this situation in your opinion? 4 ES18BPH stack or 2 ES18BPH + 2 X1 stack?
Can X1 really compete with 2x18" vented sub?

How will 4 X1 with 2 ES18BPH on top perform indoors and outdoors?

Thanx for reading and sorry for my poor english.

Build 4x Scoops.

X1s are rubbish out side.

More ES18s, will not extend lows, adequately for Reggae music.

Also the driver you are intending to use is not very strong, and has low Xmax, especially if cabs are for outside use.

No point doing something, if you're not going to be 100% committed.

For playing outside, I would recommend decent set of full Scoops.

Just to back up previous posts - adding more ES18s isn't a good way to add low end extension.

Either keep the es18 and build scoops to go under OR sell the es18 and build double 18s to do sub and kick
