Cheers Conanski.

Found a good deal on some second hand Crown Macrotech gear nearby, so I am looking at this based on feedback above (many thanks all!)

Crown Macrotech 5000VZ to power 2x18s at 8ohms, 1000W
Crown Macrotech 2402 to power 2x Eminance Kappa Pro 12A

Levyte, were you suggesting 4 x12s in total. I could get another 2404 from the same guy and the 2 together would not be a lot more expensive than the TSA 4-1300

To add 2 x 1.4" comps and run the Altec 806 Horn what would folks recommend amp wise? Would a Crest CA2 work for this, 250W at 8ohms?

What recommendations for how to wire these? Is it possible to run them from the one amp??

NO, the amp would have to be limited to 1/2 of that so it's not worth the bother.

Bridging the amp and only running it half as hard would give you better damping though so it could make a significant amount of difference ðŸ¤”

Tried to order a pair of Fane 18XBs from Thomann but the magnets are too big to ship to the US :-)

Nothing really available second hand. Not much luck with RCF L18P or PD18's either over here.

Anyone have other recommendations?

No... bridged at 4ohms is equivalent to 2ohms per channel so damping would be 1/2 the 4ohm/ch rating, and how hard the amp is pushed has no impact on that.

Good point, the output devices would effectively be showing in series to the load so the Output Impedance would be double for the same given load Embarrassed

Regardless of whether or not 'Damping' is the correct term to use, a bridged amp run half as hard has always taken better control of sub to my ears... I guess that could be due to the faster rate at which the amp can pull across a given voltage though?
