+1 on the Fane 12-250TC, very efficient and will work really well down to the crossover with the cubo's. They tend to have a narrow dispersion in the HF which may help in the Bothy. With a bit of EQ, phase can be within 45 degrees from 200 - 8KHz, they are very natural sounding with the dynamics usually only available from horn systems, vocals can sound stunning, if you can't get a good vocal sound then nothing will sound quite right. Also no compression driver harshness at high volumes. Essential that they have a lot of absorbent material in the cabinet, at least 2/3 stuffed.

Absolutely yes .... BUT - whats your definition of "quite portable" ? 2 x 12" in plywood boxes + a cubo + good sized lead batteries ..... well _I_ wouldn't fancy that unless you can get a vehicle right up to the place :-) |

If the Fane full rangers were used in a dedicated mid top box and the natural roll off in a sealed cabinet is low enough, there is usually an advantage in making the volume as small as possible. So I would think a box slightly bigger than the driver would suffice. Maybe I will try a sim later today.

What can I say I like it bass heavy :-)
I guess it depends how portable you need it. My idea of a Bothy is a small room so two 12 inch plus comps would obviously work well but I think is overkill. Depends on your ability to move the stuff. |

Thanks for the info! At the moment I haven't chosen amps so not really sure what battery I'll use. Its likely to be a car/motobike battery or maybe some LiIon units. The FE32 looks like a nice wee wide range driver but at this stage I'm liking the idea of a single (maybe ported) cabinet with a 10inch mid range and a compression top. Do you know of any good plans for such a thing?

Edit: Erm.. just spotted the 1x20a fuse! Steer clear. Power rating (including the lower 'RMS' rating) is false. 14.4v x20a = 288w. I'm not sure about the relation between RMS/Peaks Watts and fuses in amps, but as a point of reference, the Vibe Litebox Stereo 4 (which outputs true power of around 500w RMS) has a pair of 30a fuses, which fits near enough with the peak rating (14.4 x 60a, 864w) Another point of reference, Bassface 4.1 amps have a pair of fuses, probably 30a each also, for the same rated power as the Litebox (4x125w RMS) Those are two legit options to consider for amps also, btw.
