I'm looking to make the move from heavyweight amps soon but run mostly on smaller generators (10-15kva) so looking for a lightweight with PFC. I know there's a few brands like PKN, Powersoft, Lab Gruppen that have PFC but are there any others out there I might have missed?

Take care with PFC amps on generator, those amps are very sensitive at frequency variations, most of PFC fails because of that.
NEVER turn on or off generator with amps connectes and powered on, even with no load and no signal! |

Usually good PFC amps tolerate line transients much better than non-PFC amps.
I mean until the transients are in the "normal operational range" like bellow 300Vac. If you have an unfortunate situation that sustained mains transients exceeding 300Vac, it will likely kill most of connected equipment. Early Powersoft K series have had sensitivity for line frequency shifts, it has been corrected since then. I can count the number of available amplifiers in one hand with surviving ability above 350Vac... QSC PL380 is a mains destroyer! Creating 120A narrow current pulses distributed across mains, huge probability of imbalances. FP LabGruppens are not much different! I really like technical comments from those never touched an oscilloscope or network transient recorder attached to an operational amp rack :-D Edited by U.Viktor - 23 March 2018 at 1:16pm |

I know it doesn't have PFC, but it ran just fine without any problems on a generator.

The general misconception is: If you do not see problems frequently This does not mean that there are no hidden problems in your system, undermining the overall reliability.

It's not just one time on a genarator, but many times. Yes ofcourse there are better options. But just saying that it "can't be done" (without good reslult) is just silly.
