Further to my wanted post, I thought I’d show what I’ve ended up with for anyone interested.

Went and collected the 2 ebay amps.
Didnt have much time this evening but quickly whipped the top off the PPX when I dropped them off at my lockup.

Looks ok so far, nothing a good clean out won’t fix. I’ll give it a proper check over when I have time.

Also opened the beta to make sure nothing is untoward inside before I get it all packed up ready to send it to its new home with dub specialist.

Apologies for this out of focus picture, didn’t realise till I came to upload!

Apart from a loose nut rolling around inside, and the right hand pot a bit loose, also looks ok. Has hitachi mosfets in so should sound nice! I’ll likely test it quickly so I know it’s good before it leaves me.
The front looks to have been black originally, so no idea why it’s been rattle canned.

I’ll post a picture of the 450 when it arrives, from pictures I’ve seen looks like a JBL man level tidy one!

That must be an early Beta amp Gaz, looks almost home-made or very low production reggae style .
Be seeing you.

I vaguely recall an article in Disco & Club International (or whatever it was called) about the development behind these (pretty sure by Keith somethong-or-other, the one who did the 'tech' bits). And am sure there were a few trials and prototype units made before they went for the final version.

It does indeed look home made inside. It’s a nice old thing though, Weighs quite a bit less than a ppx that’s for sure!
