Crest CA18 is probably the nicest "sounding", PA torroidial amp I have heard, with that power output.

I know all about the Darq/Soundstandard CA18 copies.

Years ago, here in Amp forum, we went deep into these Soundstandard amps.

Verdict was lots of power for the money, depending on which copy you got,
But the amps needed big money on upgrades, to get anywhere near power of CA18.

Don't take this the wrong way, but maybe these now are £900 amps?  Just due to supply and demand, as they don't make them any more, and there will be fewer tidy working ones left, maybe keeping the re-sale price decent?  After 5 months of looking, that's the conclusion I would have come to, market forces and all that.  Just saying...

And no, I don't have any for sale currently, the one I had years ago sounded great, but you had to give the front of it a hard slap to get it to work.  Much like me, nowadays.

I agree with spongebob.

IMHO, only  a muppet would pay £900-£1000 for CA18.

Savvy shoppers will find Void Inf8 MK2 for between £1000 - £1200.

There was only 1x Chinese heavy amp I heard of, that, would really outplay CA18.

It had huge transformer, huge amount of smoothing per channel, and huge amount of output devices.

Was probably 9001 clone.

Never, ever, found out who made them..
