It's the second time that I see a Passive crossover made on PCB with some MOSFets screwed on the heatsink. I also noticed there is a zener diode and a diode bridge. I assume this is iniorder to get an envelope out of power signal and probabily use fets as limiter. Is it?

I've seen that in a few boxes, usually "protecting" the tweeters- although by the time such boxes get to me the tweeters and MOSFETS are usually blown anyway - I don't understand why you wouldn't just use a lightbulb instead?

Since I am not in commercial I wouldnt use light bulbs nor MOSFets limiters, but I understand why they do.. guess light bulbs is a less "aggressive" solution, but never conviced me at all.

a polyswitch in series with R1 could protect the MOSFETs and make that circuit very reliable.
