Hi all... new member here with a query that I hope someone can help with.

I am building a wall-mounted credenza / hi-fi cabinet that will have built-in speakers. I plan to repurpose the drivers / crossovers from a nice pair of older hi-fi bookshelf speakers that I have lying around. The new enclosures will be similarly dimensioned, but the old speakers were rear-ported. Because the new unit is wall mounted this is not possible.

My question is, will I run into any problems by porting the speakers through either the bottom or the front of the cabinet? Would there be any preference between these two options?

Many thanks

Wherever the ports can be places furthest from boundaries such as walls will be your friend when designing for the most predictable behaviour. Apart from that crack on. I built HiFi cabs with the (rectangular) ports on top before for something different. I think they have a few birthday cards inside them now but apart from that all is good.
