Hi All,
Was wondering about using a couple of RMJ B1000's in a G-Sub? Would mostly be used as a mid-bass box (70hz-200hz) above a couple of full size scoops or as a standalone sub for smaller gigs. Is this madness?

Seen it, heard it, hope you have a lot of power behind them.. Otherwise, PD186, Fane 18XB, many others will give you the response, and be louder.

If you're skint then maybe upgrading your amps and just running with something more 'vanilla' like Fane XBs or similar might be cunning. Big drivers need big amps. If you're gonna run with budget amps then good lower power drivers make much more sense.

Tmax 1000s are nice round sounding sub driver (in right cab), flat response, that primarily comes from Mid range BL. Basically Fane 18XB on steroids. For mid bass, you don't really want subby, heavy cone as previously mentioned. Roots Reggae mid bass, need right balance between strength and quick moving cone. Very often 2x15 Reflex gives best of both worlds, with typically more SPL. Many well known Roots Reggae sounds, have transitioned to 18" BPH cabs, with Neo drivers specifically suited. |

We switched from gsubs to double 15 reflex for kicks. Less power needed, less space taken, 2 people can lift and manage it (a gsub is a bit heavy to lift above subs if you are only 2 peeps) better output in the used range (kick 80-200) gsubs are made for sub, it's in the name, works ok for kick, many sounds do it like that, but imho it's a waste and can't go high enough (or don't sound good enough up high) to meet most mid-high cabs. The downside is that Gsubs can be used as a general bass cab for little events, while a cab made specifically for kick will struggle to go low (depends on the cab though).
