Windows 10 inbuilt protection is probably all you need nowadays.
Just make sure you've enabled automatic updates for Windows defender (this can be deferred if you use it for live work, so it doesn't reboot mid-gig) and it'll take care of the rest.

The days of needing a seperate anti-virus have long gone, unless you're doing security or secret squirrel stuff.

Same, I don't run anti-virus. Just built-in protection. Anti-virus was a joke on the last generation of PCs and almost as bad as the virus itself.

I work for an international Cyber Security firm, so know what I'm talking about.

MS firewall/anti virus, is will possibly only protect you from the simplest of attacks.

If you don't have quality, updated firewall, antivirus, and email  scanning, don't click on dodgy spam emails, you pretty much have no protection.

Ever since Norton Int Security went crap in 2004, I've used Kaspersky INS.

Americans don't like it, because Kaspersky refused to add backdoor for NSA.

I've scanned Pcs, where Worms, viruses, were co-existing quite nicely, with McAfee, and other "premiere" security Software.

Sophos is one of the best, but not cheap.

All AV will eventually wreck one of your huge win 10 upgrades. If you must have one (the win 10 one is fine) Eset is my choice, JUST the AV, not the Smart Security. Kaspersky is as Lev said, but he is in the game and knows how to deal with the constant Kaspersky isms😎

Surely the fact that Kaspersky is owned by a 'former' Russian FSB agent has more to do with the Americans not liking it?

Maybe I should have said, the US Intelligent Agencies, don't like Kaspersky.

For years  the software was praised and respected globally, until they denied, certain requests.

Only then did Fake news about Kaspersky start to circulate, and it was no longer available on PC World shelves.

Those in the know, know where to get Kaspersky Net Security, at great prices, enough said.

still is owned by ex fsb, that isn't fake news, I used to use it and recommend it and never paid retail, stopped using it before the US started on about it, massive national security risk.
