Although it might be a simple question, this has been on my head for some time.

Is less impedance on a subwoofer better?

And why?

It's hard to say categorically that low impedence is 'better'. In fact, many people would say the exact opposite and that a driver running at 8 ohms may sound better than one at 2. The lower the impedence the higher the power the driver can take and will receive from the amp but high power does not equal good sound. Impedence is a nominal figure anyway and is massively subjective to change. What exactly do you mean by 'better'?

no, is not better, is a cheap solution to drive more power with a single amp in a couple or more driver... the ts of the speakers changes -to worst - so you have better performance for much more power, but less control about what happen! try to drive 2 driver with 2 single channel of an amp -so for example 8ohm- VS an amp that deliver the double of the power (i know is not so scientific test) at 4ohm and couple in parallel those driver and u will have a better response than mine ideas.... listenin it and decide by yourself!

No lower impedance is not better. Amplifier damping factor is generally considered a non issue with modern amps but it's still easy enough to hear the difference in sound going from 8ohms to 4ohms on subs with the same amp, yes it's louder but it's a bit looser too.. that is the amp losing some control.
