You aren’t meant to take it apart again after you put it together. Believe me, I have enquired many times about putting one on top of the Matterhorn each side of a stage. |

If you put a Caleb either side of a stage, you'd need to keep the audience a *long* way back to prevent hearing damage. They're intended for long-throw outdoor venues like stadiums where they'd be flown way over the heads of any audience and the nearest ear is a hundred feet away or more...

I guess if your idea of fun is inflicting permanent hearing damage, it might be fun... (it's not like ultra-loud bass which doesn't make you deaf because of the Fletcher-Munson curves, >160dB in the midrange really is a recipe for instant and permanent partial deafness)

In this case the stage was one side of a huge body of water with the ‘crowd’ at the other. I’m not that daft  Also loud bass can still cause permanent hearing damage too. If not more so because the perception is that it is lower in volume even if the pressure is the same. |

Funny world. Slough Centre, what did that hold, 700-1000? 88-90 raves done on 6 T18's and two of the 1810 top thingys. Also seen it done on 4 small stacks of Martin 115 and some phillys. I could go on but everybody is deaf :) Coat on...

Disagree, the damage levels for ear track Fletcher-Munson curves -- it takes way higher SPL (measured unweighted) at low frequencies to cause damage, midrange is by far the biggest problem. Otherwise the crazy demos like Tom Danley standing in the mouth of the Matterhorn at full tilt would mean he'd be almost instantly deaf... Caleb is a fantastic solution to the right problem, especially not suffering treble phasing problems like big line arrays (and being a lot smaller -- ten feet tall and weighing a ton is small and light compared to the line array you'd need to get the same volume a hundred yards away). It might even be cheaper (or might not...) especially when you consider the smaller amplifiers needed...
