Thinking about grabbing one of these, if price is right.
Do they suffer from same heat problem as P3000 ? |

If biases are corect set, amps are very good, both P2000 and P3000. Nice warm fully sound in all freq range.

Keep a 1U gap between them, same as P3000 mainly because the preamp board runs hot but doesn't get any cooling from the fans.

Same as Chris says above---About fifteen years ago we had a pretty big Ohm TRS hire rig that was run with P3000s driving TRS218 and P2000s driving TRS212---we fitted a 1U ventilation panel above every amp along with four extra fans in the rear rack trap door as they cost peanuts to buy and we never had an amp go down in five years and the system had some quite heavy use during that time.
Never heard a TRS system sound so good and we had lots of comments on sound quality---I will always have a soft spot for P series amps but you must put a bit of effort into getting the best out of them. PS all of our amps were bought in secondhand as well. |
