Currently in the middle of building 9 hogs as a new rig build and wanted some opinions on what drivers I should use and why I was looking at loading them with pd1850 but can be very expensive is there any cheaper alternatives but with the same kind of quality !??

Oberton XB1500 is a great replacement for PD 1850. B&c 18DS115 probably would be a killer in hogs but not Sure of the Magnet even fits and its not cheap. |

Hogs loaded with oberton 18xb1500 here , nice and tight high spl sound albeit found the cones a bit fragile in the long run. Had a few pop on some hefty material. But for the price excellent choice. Would recommend to buy some first class drivers as you will probably want to upgrade sooner or later. b&c sw115 ds115 oberton 18xb1500 and 1600 pd 1851 or 1852 or 1850 but they can be a bit easy to burn the coil if you arent careful enough. The b&c ones can take a beating. Theres some rcf and 18sound candidates as well. The hogs can take lots of drivers it all depends what sound are you after.

Hi all I come back to the subject, we have 4 hog equipped in 18xb1300, but we are not satisfied. we are currently looking to switch to b & c 18ds115 which looks monstrous. Feedback given with them or people who could have heard? thank you all!

Scoop forum stuff indeed.
But I have experience about 3 drivers in my HOG's. Fane col 18SB, overall very good sounding. Prone to bottoming out so cannot take huge amounts of power.. Fane col 18XS prime, not good at all. Moves lots of air but not much SPL and loses control anywhere near 1kW of input power (cone flapping/farting). RCF LF18X400 (currently in use), pretty much ok. Stays in control even if pushed hard. Not quite brutal like 1850's etc but not too bad either. According to this, HOG scoop really likes low VAS drivers for good SQ. Low Qts/high BL are also good things if maximum SPL is the goal. Is this correct? Edited by Tonskulus - 20 January 2020 at 2:51pm |

If anyone is interested, I have 4/8x PD1851 MK1 drivers for sale.
These are the originals, built/assembled in UK. Selling as I recently got deal on some other drivers. I used to be fan of Oberton 18XB1300/18XB1600, but found cone issues with 18XB1300, and 18XB1600 didn't naturally go as low as 18XB1300, or PDs. This was in my Lev .44 Scoops, not HOGS.
