PD.185C003 PD.185NR1 PD.185C001 FANE Coolossus 18SB FANE FC-185F01 FANE Colossus Prime 18XS Or maybe more interestingly, are there any of the Chinese brands that would work in a scoop? As I'm based in China that would be easier for me to source. The drivers above are the ones available from the distributor of Fane and PD in China. |

Quick search on Alibaba, and a guy I got in contact with says he can sell me PD1850 copies for 130USD a per driver. I'm still trying to get original stuff, but I'll at least try one of those when I have the cabinets built. But my experience living in China, copies are a lot cheaper, but worth a lot less than originals. I never buy copy stuff, it ain't worth it. But then again.... you never know. |

Intellectual property theft aside...
Is it just a visual copy or an actual replica to oem spec? Get one and measure the ts parameters yourself. You'll know if it's worth buying more then! If you do, post the results. I think a lot of people would be interested.

There are so many better subwoofer drivers today then what PD can offer. Let alone a sub quality chinese copy of one.

Yeah, I'm actually having a pretty hard time sourcing both woodworkers and parts to build a super scooper. I'm open to suggestions on other drivers of course. Btw,
I know I've been posting quite a few new threads lately. But I'm kind
of working on two setups. I'm going to purchase a ready to go system
from a commercial brand for an upcoming event (4x double 18's + 4x
15"tops is a system I got an offer on (@MarjanM Your friend responded, I
gave him my budget, but he never put together an offer for me. His
stuff looks good though). On the side, I'm going to build some scoops
and gradually build up a reggae sound system. Call me a hipster, but I'd really like to build a traditional looking reggae system for certain events. Btw.. here's a photo of my links drivers... this one is a custom one he told me... |

But to be serious... Don't think I don't try and gather as much info on drivers as I can. There is a thread on these forums on scoop compatible drivers, but I can't find any of them here in China. It's actually a bit frustrating. (No wonder they get copied)

This drirver in your list PD.185C003 is equivalent to the old pd1850 as far as I can see comparing T/S parameters.

Personally if the price is good relative to the PD and other offerings i would go with the orange/black beasts. Neo would be good to save a couple of kilos but yeah. |
