Hi, i've got Fane sov 12-300 on upper bass/lower mid duty. Per stack: 2 boxes with 1 12" each sit on 2 HD15s and play 180ish to 600ish. Above them is a BMS 4590 in a horn.
My question is, if there was a perfect cabinet to play this range 180-500/600 what would it be? Many thanks |

Small sealed.
Or straight horn for better directivity control. However sov 12-300 may not be optimal driver for horn loading.. Edited by Tonskulus - 16 August 2019 at 9:43am |

Something like the Fane 2 x 12" sealed box?

From 180 Hz and up, there nothing to gained with BR.
Small sealed could work, but I cant see it having enough SPL to match 2 HD15's and a 4590 op top. Straight horn would be a better level match. You probably can get away without phaseplug if not higher than 5-600 Hz. |

people used to always suggest altec 815 when this was asked. i've never heard them though. but it's a 15" cab. there was a similar plan for a 12" in the eminence book though.

Something a bit horny then.
How much difference would there be between a curved horn and a straight horn? Cheers! |
