I have a DB Mark DP48 and DP36 processors both units encoder knob have the same fault.
When turning the encoder knob it randomly jumps and skips about. Dose anyone else have this issue? if so are there any fixes? cheers

I wouldn't call it a glitch, it's bad design either in software or hardware.

Have you emailed blue aran? They would be able to tell you if its possible to remedy the randomness.
Heard of the older units having the jumping jog wheel, is yours a new one?

I bought the units from Tony Wilkes years ago.
Agreed the worst ting about these processors. No problem if your using the pc to control. But looking to sell 2 units and was hoping for a fix

there are 2 small capacitors and resistors on the pcb next to the encoder that are for 'debounce'. They are a different value than the encoder manufacturer shows on the datasheet. You can change them if you like, it will usually cure the jitter (change the encoder too while its apart) at the expense of having to operate the wheel a little slower than is always convenient.
PS here's a circuit from one of the datasheets, it's a similar setup on the db mark. On some Alps datasheets, they recommend debouncing entirely through firmware. Edited by kedwardsleisure - 17 March 2020 at 11:07pm |
