Im midway through building my first Tham 12. And was wondering where people run the cable and where people position the speakon socket. I assume there is a specific way as to not affect the sound or that??
My thoughts were to drill a small hole just enough for the cable to fit through then seal it after. The speaker cable obviously the green line in the photo. (Nothing is glued yet so ignore the braces there just wedged in atm) Edited by Jack1991 - 15 March 2020 at 10:20am |

In through the back as low as possible, secured to the bottom panel and bring it up through the baffle close to the driver.

Yes exactly this, on our 12" tapped horns we have the cable going to the front so it is easy to connect to the driver, but you get the idea

My 4 tham 12s have the routing as per your first diagram; just make sure you seal the hole....
Itโs a good idea to wrap the cable in self-adhesive cloth tape (Something like TESA 51608 loom tape is ideal) so the cables donโt vibrate or "Buzz" against the cabinet sides. Edited by APW - 15 March 2020 at 3:28pm |
