Hi all,

Been looking for an amplifier to power 4 1000w drivers and after some hunting on eBay, I came across a listing for a “WYW MX1500”

For the specs, the price seemed reasonable, and the seller seemed confident in its abilities as a heavyweight bass amplifier.

However after doing some further research, I found that these WYW amplifiers are simply copies of other well known brands (QSC, LabGruppen etc) that share the same internals across all of their products but just use the shells of other branded amplifiers go make them look different.

Has anyone got any experience with these amps? They are extremely heavy and quite large, so seem to fit the bill for a bass amp as far as expectations go. The seller also mentions that this amp is an older model, so maybe it differs from the newer WYW copies?

All answers are appreciated, Ajsski99

Never heard of them personally, but even though its says '2150W at 4Ω'... what kind of Watt is that? RMS? Peak? PMPO? Some other random figure that it might be able to do for 1000th of a second as long as the wind's in the right direction?

Even reading the description, '...it's like a CA18... but cheaper components...', wouldn't inspire me with confidence.

Yup.

Not exactly cheap either, by time you add the carriage and duty + Vat on top......

For the money the seller is asking you could pick up a decent QSC RMX5050. The amp in that ebay advert has vents that are completely clogged with dust and is in a case that appears to have had it's panels cut by chewing rather than sawing.....
