Right so Iv got my stack together!
2x scoop loaded with FANE XB 1000w 2x reflex loaded with eminence deltas 400w 2x MT121 loaded with B@C 12PE32 12" 250w P-Audio BM-D450 MK2 1" Been Researching and learning about amps and the crossovers! This is what Iv put together Scoop - BUT48 : BUT24 HP/35hz LP/65hz Reflex - BUT24 : BUT24 HP/65hz LP/150hz MT121 12inch - L-R24 HP/150hz LP/1khz-1.2khz Compression - L-R12 1khz L-R12 20hz I’m not to sure on this and still figuring it all out as new to this! Those crossover points and slopes look OK. I might cross the compression driver a bit higher though. The BMD450 isn't very good below 1.6kHz, and you will want to put the biggest horn on it you can get. If you cross it in at 1kHz on a horn that's too small, you will get bad distortion problems (a harsh sound in the upper mids).
Really, a 1.4 or 2" driver on a large 800Hz horn is a better match for the MT12 horn. The MT12 only has 60 degree dispersion up to about 800Hz, thereafter it narrows.
Also remember that the BMD450 response isn't even as flat as it looks on P Audio's graph, so you will want to use a PEQ to cut quite a lot at about 3kHz, in order to not have your hi-mids overwhelm the rest of the range. In fact this applies to most compression drivers. A lot of new users don't do this, and wonder why their rig sounds harsh.... |
