Am planning on my first soundsystem build, and need to make a decision on enclosures -

Am thinking;
2 x HD15

2 x 10"+1.35" (two way crossover)

I know the HD15s don't go the lowest but the system will be mainly for house/techno/fast transient music.
It'll be mainly for house parties and small garden parties, can anyone give advice on whether the HD15s will cut it for the low end and any recommendations for mid/top enclosures in this setup?
Thanks!

IMO you will be better off making a 15inch or 18inch bassreflex instead of HD15.

Agreed, Horns are great when used in multiples and having run a system that started off with two HD15s and then ended up with 8 I would have been much better off starting with bass reflex and then adding a kick section if i felt it was needed. A good 15 bass reflex will still smash it, the fane 15 design although dated still packs a punch.
blah blah blah blah blah......

Thanks, what do you think about using a cubo 15 design instead?

Cubo 15 is great. Goes a fair bit lower compared to HD15, still has a good kick to it. And easy to build :)

Maybe check this thread for info about cubo:

I am a bit skeptical if cubo will actually go lower than hd15. According to Tonskulus measurements, cubo15 cuts off around 50 hz. HD15 is still 100 db sensitive at 50 Hz.

My first "serious" builds were HD15, first one pair, then a second pair. Both kappa 15lf loaded. Four is definitely better than two.

Cubo15 had No trouble going below 50hz.

I have build and used a set of Cubo 215 (dual enclosures), loaded with PD154. Recommended driver for HD15 also.
And i can for sure tell you that 45hz isnt a problem. Low cut at 40hz, and plenty of it.

HD15 has way more kick, but it cant keep up down low. Not even with 4 stacked.
