Hi

I have been looking on a lot of PA sub designs and noticed that the driver mounting baffle thickness is usually the same as the rest of the material. If the driver is sitting maximally close to all walls surrounding the driver, does the baffle thickness matter? Like so:

The thicker the better. 2 or 3 layers of 3/4 inch birch ply all round would make great speaker cabs.....oh the weight and cost.....oh My back.....

Yes, that's what I was thinking that it would not be practical but would it matter if the baffle in this case was 2x the thickness?

when the driver is that close to the walls it's not going anywhere. the basket assembly is going to be extremely stiff too and that's bolted to the baffle. plus the huge inertia of the magnet compared to the cone. not an issue at low frequencies.

if you want to put more wood in the box brace the larger panels.

Thank you , thats what I wanted to hear :)
I am planning to brace the larger panels. It is a transmission line for a 21" sub, 26Hz -10db
