Heeello All..

Just picked up some gear from a crew closing down. Mostly light and rigging, but also got 4 Staiper MS-18 mk2, Looking almost freshly built, but no grills.

Oh Yeah btw, they are unloaded.
What could be a fun driver for them, if i want to really get them going LOL
There must be quite alot of mental modern drivers that will make good noise !

Just about everything. All the major players for sure. Oberton, TurboMax and Faital are a bit tricky.

Not modern or mental but I have Fane XB in mine and whilst not SPL monsters, still go nice and loud/low and with a tone I like!

What about Excursion? Do they loose control when pushed ?

Not that I have found, but I don't feel like I have pushed them to the absolute limit (or needed to) yet either. I did worry about a lack of cone control before I loaded them with XB but it's not a concern now personally.

I'm sure you could find a more aggressive driver (I only have experience of XB in these cabs) that would work in the cab too if you wanted more SPL. I'm sure someone has tried Oberton/v1000/1852/turbomax who could inform you but I would tempted to stick in xb/pd186 territory, but I just like that sound!

I can imagen XB sounds good in it. Its a classic and has always sounded warm and low.

But i would expect a driver with a good portion of xmax would be more fun.
