Scoop mogale esthetics modification

   Hi, everyone

I would like to build four mogale scoops, but find the esthetic side of it bit bland. 
I would like to modify the cross, add some veneer and substitute 3/4 inch of plywood whit solid wood contours on the front of the speakers.
Do you think it would affect the sound or the solidity of the project?
