The main thing with audio is "stiff" mains, IE 700Amps PSC minimum, so use lumpy cables, with 120V this is a MASSIVE problem as decent amp will be outputting higher voltage than your AC line, skinny 8g cable won't help you here.

If you use gensets, you need more than the max power of you amp rack to have a hope, so 4x Linea 20K you need a 80KVA set with 15KW load ballast, if you use powersoft not so much as they have very low duty cycle and you can get away with a smaller set, but you still need a ballast load.

Mains wise, just use thick cable and get as much PSC from the supply to your rack as you can, I've run BSS Flashlight racks with a 32A 3PNE >13A converter all night off a 13A socket, but we did run 35mm2 cable to the stage!

Modern amps are very aggressive to mains supplies if the supply "flops" about so use the best cables you can get, on 120V you are kind hosed, but running 2 decent cables from the receptacle is better than one....

Most modern amps have SMPSU so running 208 maybe a good option, but check this is supported and put the relevant Nema plugs on, don't just 208 a 120V Nema 15

Also "Most" us houses have 20A as standard, find and use these, the thicker cable is your friend!

Kinda Been there, Kinda done that, YOU COULDN'T handle my bar bill!
