For a listening room, if you want Hifi Sub, would suggest 2x18 reflex, loaded with Fane 18XB.

1x 186 Horn Cab, will barely hit 48hz.

There are some 1x15" Home theatre subs, that will do 15hz, so not sure about mental...

Not if you do the maths and place it so the room’s corner extends the path length and mouth area.

But still, for what appears to be a critical listening space, neither of those drivers nor that box are a good suggestion. It’s ‘boring’ but for most folk, it’s hard to beat the simplicity of a fridge-sized sealed box or ‘infinite baffle’ loaded with a high-excursion driver like almost all of the top-tier PA drivers aimed at reflex cabinets.

With normal home listening levels, a Linkwitz transform and the room gain will easily extend the response low enough for it to be real fun.

I’m more than aware. Hence saying it would be mental to use when a smaller cab can give more of the fidelity wanted with a hifi system.

the PD.186/3 seems to be a little different than the older one. Will it fit or not? What do you mean?

THIELE SMALL PARAMETERS
Fs34.18 Hz
Re6.19 Ω
Qms10.77
Qes0.55
Qts0.52
Le (@ 1 kHz)1.95 mh
Vas192.15 litres
Mms203.93 g
Sd1134.11 cm2
Cms106.67 µm/N
BL22.18 T/m
Xmax10.5 mm
Vd1.2 litres
Ref. Efficiency2.05%
EBP62.14 Hz

EBP changed lower. Is it possible?  Better to go with the  RCF L18P300 https://images.static-thomann.de/pics/atg/atgdata/document/specs/241835.pdf ??

i just had a look at the specs - this driver is not suited for any horn at all.

It is exremely weak in its motor structure, the specs tell you to build a closed box or maybe a bassreflex for low SPL ( maybe Hifi ) good sounding deep and round Sub.

You can get drivers which will provide  2x output for the same cost easily.

The RCF driver would be a bit louder, although a mms = 180g is too low for high compression horns and it could be dangerous to damage the cone, this is as well a Bassreflex driver.

Edit: Both might be OK for your home hifi setup, although i would not build a 186 Horn for home Hifi. You would gain much better overall sound quality with a closed box.
