i'm chatting to someone who has had some 218's made... and then cut them in half to make single horn loaded 18's pretty sure they are F1 F218 copies. is this a viable thing to do? it would of course "work" but i wonder if there was any acoustic coupling going on at the mouth of the horn where the two meet...

It's very similar just half as loud ;) Put them together and same thing. Apart from maybe some different losses via the enclosure stiffness / vibrations
