Hi everyone I'm trying to keep costs down on my system I want to refresh some second hand Scoops I have rather than buy tuff cab or equivalent is there any general DIY paint anyone recommends the cabs have previously been spray painted.

Cheers Thumbs Up

Depending on what they have been painted with previously Raptor by Upol is a great solution.

If it has to be cheap, do not go with raptor. It is definately more expensive then tuffcab.

Thanks I've just looked and it is a bit expensive I'm reluctant to put tuff cab on them due to been painted before and hearing stories it doesn't particular stick well to existing painted cabs .

You should really clean the old paint off/sand them down before doing anything else - especially if previously spray painted. Some of those will react badly when repainted. The new stuff you put on may not take well & it all becomes a waste of time (& money).  Cry

Cheers for that I known I've got to prep them beforehand.

Is this stuff better than Warnex? Similar price wise.

See it's 2 part. Is it nasty stuff requiring respirator etc?

I have used raptor on my recent builds, and would say its tougher then warnex (but also more expensive). I have sprayed al my cabs and did some small pieces with a roller. You definately want good ventilation and some protective gear when applying it.

Still, Warnex is a great product. Easy to apply with a roller and dries quickly.

back in the day i used a lot of warnex, always a mess, dries very fast. always rolling it cuz lack of compressor. warnex is tough but u really gotta concentrate to roll it fast.

i prefer tuffcab, results are more pleasing, depending on the roll it gets apllied with, you can archieve even a small structure. and to me biggest advantage is, u have more time to apply color evenly before it dries. + u can chose between a lot more colors. i went with turboblue for the tops and black
for the hogs

greetings
