On some certain records mixed by Scientist in the late 70's early 80's he processes/EQ's the bass in quite a unique sounding way on the vocal mixes, where it sounds like the mids and a lot of bass are scooped down to only possibly the lower sub bass frequencies?. Examples of this are tracks like like "Gunman" by Michael Prophet and other tracks off that LP. Curious if anyone knows what going on there.
Edit: It's actually the tune "Turn Them Around" that features this bass processing most clearly, "Guide and Protect You" as well Edited by SmoothOperator - 20 December 2022 at 11:18pm |

Scientist is well known for running 2 tracks of bass into the mixing desk with one clean with standard eq and the second eq'd to be heavy on the sub frequencies so he could use that to enhance the very bottom end in the mix.
No idea if he used that on that specific Michael Prophet album but he definitely did it on a lot of stuff he mixed down. |

Interesting, on these particular Micheal Prophet tunes, it sounds like one of the bass tracks is EQ'd to play only the very top end of the bass guitar and the other basically just super low sub?, with very little low mid-or "higher" more audible bass frequencies
