I'd go with the composer (now a composer pro hence not on site anymore) if some-one really goes for it and overload the input of you DCX it is all over, white noise from rig most certainly blown top drivers, digi stuff doesn't sound warm when you gun it...
 
If you wanna play set the mdx up as a limiter and then use the comp/limit bit of the dcx just to see what it sounds like, never used the input limiter on mine as i always use a 402 across LR
 
I rate the dcx as it cost a 10th the price of my 336t (which IMHO is better than XTA) and ain't that bad at all but I think letting it try and look after your rig on its own may be  more than a £190 X-over should be allowed to do...
