Hi all, I've been looking at the bandpass designs on the site, and am curious about the 184sub. The performance graph suggests it's very nearly as good as the X1, yet it's a much smaller box. Is it really that good, or is there some limit to it's performance that the graph doesn't show? (I know it's an older design - was it done with less accurate modelling or something?) Also, would it benefit from a newer driver like a Void or P.Audio and if so, which one? Cheers, David. |

Not sure about the 184 vs X1 in terms of output, but the P Audio SD18 would probrably be a good choice of driver.

The X1 will go lower and has a higher output. A driver like the Void 18 1000 has a high electrical powerhandling as well as a high mechanical powerhandling resulting in the ability to go low and loud. The low Qts and high Bl (Void and SD-18) result in a strong and efficient motor which again will result in a higher SPL. It will also benefit the transient respons. Edited by mobiele eenheid |
