ok this is how it used to work for me. The V18-1000 is a beast and
sounds awsome in an X1. 1Kw of juice per box is enough to make it sing
very nicely indeed.

To be honest for all this talk of PD's needing 2k to get moving, I think you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between X1's loaded with voids and PDs as I have X1s loaded with both and I've never stood there thinking that the PD loaded ones needed more power...
1kw will be fine I reckon. You need to make sure you high pass with a pretty steep slope to keep the excursion within reasonable limits.. |

Yeah I have my prototypes (the X1 shaped X1s rather than the letterbox shaped ones) which are loaded up with SD18s. Not had a chance to actually measure them to see if they play lower and flatter than the Voids or PD1850s (I guess they will as the modelled void is very similar to the reality of a measured void and the SD18 models better than either the void or the PD). I'm also pretty sure Rog wouldn't recommend them if they weren't the dogs. They sound fine. But so do the voids and the PDs.
Am having a lockup clearout in the next few weeks and the prototypes will be up for sale if anyones interested in a pair of original spec X1s Personally I'm going for PD1850s for the proven reliability and consistant availability. |
