Here is what I am doing and what I have...I do some side line DJing and run sound for a country band and a rock and roll band. I currently have... (1) DOD 835 crossover (1) Crown XLS 402 power amp (570w/2 ohms, 400w/4 ohms, 260w/8 ohms, 800w/8 ohms bridged, and 1140w/4 ohms bridged) (1) Mackie 1400i power amp (700w/2 ohms, 480w/4ohms, 280w/8 ohms, 960w/8 ohms bridged, 1400w/4 ohms bridged) (2) Yamaha S115IV Mains (2 way 500/1000 watt peak) 55Hz -16kHz, 99db Question is...would I be better off using X 1's or 186's for subs? In the past I have used some crappy 15" bass reflex subs. They were good while they lasted (about 6 months). I like the three way sound, and doing some outdoor stuff really limits my use for the X1's. But I also do a lot of indoor gigs. So, what do you think? |

Make the soundman mad and I WILL press the suck button for your band.

For a start, you need more powerfull amps, unless you bridge them for the subs.
