I need to buy two/four lights. Just the sort of thing to sit and get on with it at weddings etc.
LED would be good as sitting them on top of speakers may happen, vibrations etc.
I see Soundlab, Abstrct, Acme......blah.
Who's the best cheapo brand, sort of 40/65 quid each rummage..
They will not get a lot of use.

Acme impossibled.
Really good LED light will fill any sized room, bit over your budget, but worth the money.

I hate all the led disco effects, they look so cheap and backwards

All the Martin stuff went ages ago.
I know what you mean about it looking cheap and backwards but have a look at some of the LED moving heads, which use a singe 20w LED. More modern than the light I mentioned, but a lot more money. But is of a similar brightness to a 250w halogen fixture.
Give it a year or so, and I think LED lighting will be much more advanced than it is now.

How about some LED uplighters, par 64's etc. Very nice subtle effect during the quiet bits and can also be good during the more lively bits of the evening. Have a look on youtube for led disco lighting to get some ideas.
I have only used LED lighting for my mobile stuff over the last year. Doesn't get hot, doesn't use much power, and the lamps don't blow.
I have never had anyone give negative comments about the lighting, but I have had other dj's ask me what lights I was using, so they could buy some.
