For the X15, should i go for the PH220 or the PH3220? The driver will be a BMD 450. Wich is smoother?

Although I'm yet to try it out, I've just bought some 18Sound
1086XT's. I'm expecting very good results. PH220 is very
similar (read practically identical) to an RCF H100 which is a very
well behaved horn.

Except that P.Audio get the throat size wrong on the PH220 sometimes. I
would get on the Phone to Audio Geometry (if you have no luck with the
locals try Max in Joburg, one of the fewer times you will chat to
someone locally who knows his stuff)
The 18Sound Elyptical waveguide on P.Audio Winner D63 is what I'd go for if you can squeze it in. Should be perfect for your 15" 2-way if the driver gels with the waveguide. |

Check out the response plot in the multipurpose monitors thread.
DE250 + 1086XT = flat from 4-14kHz on and off axis. Directivity
increases above 12kHz but nothing to worry about.
I might stop raving about these horns sometime in the new year!!! |

yeah, but the man is also on a budget. The big 18Sound waveguide is a
fair bit more likely to play ball with the 15 for numerous reasons.

Ah, you mean go 1.4". Looking at the specs tho you don't seem to
be able to take the WN D63 on the 1.4" any lower than the BMD450 on the
1" waveguide.
I wasn't saying to use the DE250 as it is a bit pricy, but BMD450 on 1086XT is an option surely??? |

Yes. I am not too sure about the mechanical handling of the 2.5"
diaphragm 1.4" exit P.Audio (one of the reasons to ask Alex) but I
would imagine that it should be better than a normal 1.75" 1" exit and
the waveguide has a mouth more likely to integrate properly with the 15
(if teh size isn't a problem). I have heard that the 3" dia 1.5" exit P.Audios
work alright on the 18Sound waveguide if you can live with the response
falling like a rock above 12kHz.
