Hi,
A mate is looking for some new subs, but they must be a one man lift. It is desirable to have a 4ohm load per box for the amps he has. From this my initial thoughts were: Twin 15PS100 B&C in 175L total for both drivers tuned to 40hz. Single 18LW1400 18Sound (4Ohm) in 150L tuned to 40hz. These model the same in WINISD so all I am asking here is if I have missed anything other than what is mentioned below. There would initially be four of either of the above boxes. With a pair of x12 on top. But the system could double later, meaning the above is then per side. I really can't see a lot of difference between the two. The boxes can be designed with similar dimensions. The 15s look to have a bit more displacement capacity (more area similar xmax) but the 18s are more up market - double shorting rings etc. So the 18s might have less power compression per voice coil but then there are 2x 4" coils for the 15s. Finally price is similar for 2x15 vs 1x18. A disadvantage later maybe picking up 4ohm recone kits for the 18lw1400 as usually these are dropped leaving only 8 ohm. While 15PS100/18LW1400 are both popular models I think finding 8 ohm kits for 15PS100 will be easier later on. Thanks for your time. Glenn
