Bose do make some odd designs - where placement is crucial. I have a couple of 301´s that do sound nice - but with the tweeter off at an angle, so need carefull placement. All a bit weird. Then you could have room nodes - or some phasing problem. Difficult to tell without more information.

And I´d say that almost anything else would be better!  LOL

For small events I have some EV SX300´s. I don't think that you can go wrong with those. You can use the EV sub (SB122), or almost any 15"/18" BR cab that suits your need.

Likewise, I have RCF ART300's that don't owe me a penny and are a way better speaker than an 802. I bought the bose cheap as a job lot, which is why we use them, but if it were a choice between RCF and Bose, its RCF all the way!
