Yeah, thats what I've been doing so far; modelling in 4Pi and then moving over to 2Pi for the less pessimistic version. Dosen't look too shabby in 4pi already; consistent 100dB/1W apart from a peak around 280 that probably isn't anything an EQ can't tame.

So far as directivity, I'd think that'd really depend on the final cab shape and how much it flairs horizontally and vertically to give the desired expansion.

Colossus 12MB sims ok in it too. Guess its time to think about a mid horn that uses an 8" closed back driver now.... ...anyone got any tips? Are the offerings from Eminence or Celestion suitable?

I'll give it a sim later but 8.1kg is probably a tad heavy.

Keep 'em coming please!

Hello mr Meat

18sound 12ND930 is what I've been using for half year now for 67cm long horn. Otherwise quite similar to yours. Used B&C 12PE32 before. Bit more refined and more accurate sound with 18sound. (+more power handling).

Also gonna change rear volume vented, and 18sound simmed better and required less rear box volume (Vb). Intended range 100Hz-1000Hz. With closed rear I'm getting usable band down to 132Hz with some eq.

In singles they work nice with some sidewall support for the low end and reducing response bumpiness. 3pcs for true 4p usage is required.

I don't think the ferrite vs neo weight benefit thing is good reason to judge in cabinet of this size class... just more spl and better sound and lower extension from same total volume.

Andy

PS to mods

I wrote a lenghty response few days ago, but as I checked some facts, some time got by and when hit post reply -button, forum engine said not enough respect or something and destroyed my replyAngryAngry.
