Wow! I don't know. You may have a resonance problem (the cab vibrating). How are you going to move it? Sounds like you'll be needing a crane Jim |

I'll be very interested to see the result. Might need some
damping on the panels/bracing to make it sound a bit nicer. I'm
sure it will work though.

I think one made out of diamond plate aluminum would look awesome!!! It would be considerably lighter than steel and be very durable.

It's a very bad idea to use steel. It will weigh a ton, more than MDF and you won't be able to lift it. And steel rusts and sounds like crap. I've gone round testing things to see if they make a sound by wrapping my knuckles on things. And a steel boiler rings when you wrap your knuckles on it and so will the cab if you build it out of steel. Use honeycombed aluminium if you must use metal. Its much lighter, doesn't rust and the honeycombed aluminium doesn't tend to ring as much. But even that will sound like crap and ring, unless its got sh*tloads of wadding or fibreglass/kelvar wrapped inside it.

If you've got the materials and the time, why not? Just allow an increased volume if you expect extra ribbing will be needed. |

JESUS! It'd weight 200kg...
And for some added fun, spray some automotive deadener inside for a few extra kilos(and corrosion protection. Paint it with hammertone and put in a bunch of chunky bolts for effect(make it look like a safe). Once complete, take a loving long look at it before you realise you can't move it..... |

Haha even I'm not THAT bad even though I write some posts without thinking. X1 made out of steel can double as your toilet. Unless it falls through the floor cos of the weight.
