Well it'll be as good(better) as a cheap 18...

I've even used a single pair of 12" reflex with one x1(mine is 90% similar but different driver) and it's fine. Remember they only need to go down to 80hz not 30 and the x1 has sensitivity of around 100-103db(15's are 98-100 depending) so 2x15's(which is what you want with the 4 cabs) will put out 130 continuous or so and the x1's will be a few db more. I always have a couple of extra db on bass anyway so this works out well.

Keep in mind many of the guys on this site are in to D&B, Psy-Trance(requiring kick bins like hd15, not so much sub-bass required) etc so what they use may be different to you and their SPL requirements will depend on a lot of things. I do weddings/parties/cruise boats etc so 1-2 subs and a pair of mid-high is all I need for most, but even 300 person ballrooms(big room) really only needs 2 subs and some dual 12" cabs(will be dual 15 soon) to fill the place with sound AND still make people walk outside to talk . It's no danceclub volume wise but sounds really good.

Same concept in car audio, My friend has 2x15's crossed to 5" mid-bass and there is no 'hole' in between even tho he has 147db of bass and only 115 or so of mid(although he does turn the bass down)

A friend of mine owes me some money and has a set of Eminence Kappa Pro 15A's (not LF unfortunatly) that I can probably get from him. I think I will start with an X1 , single Kappa 15 and a good driver/horn combo (I said it correctly this time Nexus_3) per side and go from there. Now I have to find a good deal on a set of SD18's. The cheapest I have found them online is around $375 each but I live about 15 minutes from Ramsdell Pro Audio http://www.ramsdellproaudio.com/ and he uses P-Audio in all his cabinets. I might be able to convince him to sell me a pair at his cost. Check out his Sub Engine cabinets, they look awsome!!!

Kappa 15 will be fine(doesn't have to be LF as you're using subs-non LF models 'should' be better for mids anyway). Eminence drivers(most) have big peaks in their response. I'd even ask your mate at Ramsdell to get you some sn15mb's(I use them and they're excellent). They're light, smooth and efficient without being expensive(genuine 100db 1w/1m-eminence count their peaks as efficiency but are more like 97 without it)
